Who We Are-A brief History

Like most good ideas, idod was built to fulfill a need…Scott Barca (seated right) has been in the low voltage industry for a long time. Having a background in both home theater and security design and installation, he truly does have a firm grasp of the word integration. With a focus on completing full home solutions with an eye for detail, he was asked by a customer to help develop an outdoor system using a projector, a screen, and some speakers. Never to shrink from a challenge, Scott began searching for a solution that not only performed well, but also looked invisible when not in use. The more he looked, the more he realized that nothing really existed. It was then that he called on his old friend John Tragoutsis (seated left).

John and Scott first started working together back in 1985 when Scott was getting involved in a new and growing market for something called “home theater”. People were just getting to understand that they could actually have the theater experience in their home. Using John’s status as a Master Carpenter, they worked together to build beautiful custom cabinets that would help hide all the components, but still allow the client to have a high end experience. It was from this collaboration that idod was born.

With a group of products designed and vetted through use and industry viewing, John and Scott decided that they needed to bring someone onto the team to run the company and to help take it to the next level. Scott turned to his friend and industry veteran Michael Vetrovec (center) to take on this task. Michael had over 15 years of experience in the AV industry and had the unique drive and business vision to see where the company needed to go in order to succeed.

That vision is to continue to produce high quality, hand crafted products to fill the void in the outdoor integration market. In addition to that commitment, idod is determined to be the one stop solution for all outdoor needs including: Design, Training, Product Certification, and new product development. Working as a partner with their dealers and other manufacturers, idod can and will take on a major role in this emerging market and will ultimately create a more reliable and enjoyable system for the customer.
